Dog Island, Florida

Never heard of it?  Probably that's because its a small island about 13 miles long offshore of Carrabelle, Florida. The only way to get there is by a boat.  Yep, no bridge or roads which means you don't see many people while your there.  It also means it is a little piece of undisturbed beach a.k.a Heaven.

Ben's family owns a house on Dog Island.  We were down there for the annual Peterson Family Reunion.  What a great group.

Everyone on the mainland before going across to the island.

You can barely see the mainland from this picture.  The dock and water are just beautiful.  Since this is the bay side, it doesn't have too many waves.  You have to walk over to the other side of the island to go to the beach.

And the best part of Dog Island is the wonderful sunsets every night.

This is what my little peace of paradise looks like.  What is yours?

  1. Caitlin, It looks absolutely wonderful! It looks like you're having a great time. I guess you'll be anxious to make some soap when you get home. :) ~Becky

  2. Wow, that's gorgeous! I can't imagine hauling all the building materials over there, but I suppose they would have to use a bigger boat! Hope you are super relaxed when you get back. :)

  4. Haha oh yes they had to use a barge to get everything across. And yes I want to make soap so bad! My new essential oils just came in before I left so while I was gone I was thinking up different scent combinations to try :)
