Thankfulness

So my 22nd birthday is coming up in little less than a month, and with that comes the infamous question: "What would you like for your birthday this year?"

I got to thinking.  What did I want versus what did I need?  Do I really want anything else?  Am I happy with what I have?  So many thoughts started running through my mind.

How thankful I am to literally have nothing I need or want to ask for my birthday.  Sure, I could use a new TV...but do I really need that?  Do I really need another pair of shoes?  Okay...well maybe I need a gas card or a gift card to Publix, but honestly I'm content with what I have.  I am so thankful for that contentment.

We live in a world full of advertisements telling us what we need, what we should want, and what we cannot live another day if we don't get.  But honestly, what are the roots to those 'wants'?  Do we honestly feel so insecure about ourselves that we need the latest and greatest?

Just some thoughts that have been running through my mind for about the past four or five days.
