<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ESbNc7nDS4A/Um1mU13HKMI/AAAAAAAABDk/85Ny6W6xUEk/s1600/IMG_0493.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ESbNc7nDS4A/Um1mU13HKMI/AAAAAAAABDk/85Ny6W6xUEk/s640/IMG_0493.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I've been sitting in Starbucks for almost 3 hours working on homework, when a thought just hit me: All those years ago, I imagined what my life would be like when I was a senior in college. It's really nothing like I imagined. I remember sitting in small group as a high school junior raving over what we would do to be in college and how much better our lives would be. Our small group leader Lizzy gave us a little nugget of advice: enjoy where we are because we won't be there ever again. She also taught us a lot about patience. As I sit here working on hours upon hours of my never ending to-do list of college assignments, I've come to realize where I thought I would be and where I really am.<br />
<br />
I thought my company would be in more retail stores, but today I am working on a new business plan.<br />
I thought I would be manufacturing bath products for the rest of my life, but today I am contemplating doing an internship with a new company.<br />
I thought I would be engaged, but today I'm as single as ever.<br />
I thought I would still be best friends with everyone from high school, but today I only keep in touch with one or two.<br />
I thought I would be independent, but today I'm still as dependent - just in different ways.<br />
I thought I would have freedom, but today I have found a different freedom than I was seeking.<br />
I thought I would have security, but today I'm not even sure where I will be next week.<br />
I thought I would have my life together, but today I'm still waiting to figure that out.<br />
<br />
I'm currently backpacking through the wild journey called life. No matter what I plan for, there are always going to be bumps in the road (#cliche). The good news is that I know that what I want is not always the Lord's plan, and the Lord's plan is SO MUCH better than anything I could plan or hope for.<br />
<br />
Just some thoughts today as I sit in a Starbucks.<br />

I've been super busy the past couple of weeks which is why I haven't posted any updates on my blog! Taking five senior level classes in school as well as my capstone class is quite a lot to handle. However, the show went really well over the past weekend! The Harvest Square Festival is always my most favorite show to do all year. It was a little rainy in the morning, but the day just kept getting more and more beautiful.<br />

<br />
Some thoughts I had after class today. Do you think that trust is a sign you have forgiven someone and that trust and forgiveness are one in the same? Or do you think you can forgive someone without trusting them? I want to know what you think about this! Leave a comment below with your opinion.<br />

CaitlinCaitlin - Revive Bath & Bodyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00231784466748084919noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5062275454626789261.post-9318258424844509052013-08-30T11:58:00.002-07:002013-08-30T11:58:49.943-07:00ThankfulnessSo my 22nd birthday is coming up in little less than a month, and with that comes the infamous question: "What would you like for your birthday this year?"<br />
<br />
I got to thinking. What did I want versus what did I need? Do I really want anything else? Am I happy with what I have? So many thoughts started running through my mind.<br />
<br />
How thankful I am to literally have nothing I need or want to ask for my birthday. Sure, I could use a new TV...but do I really need that? Do I really need another pair of shoes? Okay...well maybe I need a gas card or a gift card to Publix, but honestly I'm content with what I have. I am so thankful for that contentment.<br />
<br />
We live in a world full of advertisements telling us what we need, what we should want, and what we cannot live another day if we don't get. But honestly, what are the roots to those 'wants'? Do we honestly feel so insecure about ourselves that we need the latest and greatest?<br />
<br />
Just some thoughts that have been running through my mind for about the past four or five days.<br />

Abraham is a pretty old guy who is childless. After praying continuously for a son, God allowed Sarah to become pregnant with Isaac. God blessed Abraham with a son, something his heart had been yearning for.<br />
<br />
A couple years down the road, God says this:<br />
<br />
"Take your son, your only son - yes Isacc, whom you love to much - and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will point out to you." <br />
Genesis 22:2 NLT<br />
<br />
And what does Abraham do?<br />
<br />
"The next morning Abraham got up early. He saddled his donkey and took two of his servants with him, along with his son Isaac. Then he chopped wood to build a fire for a burnt offering and set out for the place where God had told him to go."<br />
Genesis 22:3 NLT<br />
<br />
Okay let's just take a second to recap what just happened in those two verses. Abraham has a dearly beloved son named Isaac. God tells Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his only son. The NEXT morning, without any hesitation what-so-ever, Abraham gets up in the early morning and prepares for the journey he is about to go on to sacrifice his son.<br />
<br />
When I first read this story, I was blown away by Abraham's lack of hesitation. He literally wakes up early the next morning to prepare for the journey the Lord called him to without ANY hesitation. Let's think about this. Isaac is Abraham's son. His beloved son. His son that he had prayed several years for. And when the Lord asks Abraham to give Him the thing the cares most for, he does so without a doubt in his mind.<br />
<br />
What a man.<br />
<br />
"Abraham tied up Isaac and laid him on the wood. Abraham reached out and took the knife to kill his son. Just then an angel of God called to him out of Heaven, 'Abraham! Abraham!'<br />
'Yes I'm listening'<br />
'Don't lay a hand on that boy! Don't touch him! <b>Now I know how fearlessly you fear God</b>; you didn't hesitate to place your son, your dear son, on the alter for me.'"<br />
Genisis 22:10-12 The Message<br />
<br />
God chose to save Isaac because of Abraham's undoubted trust in Him. Abraham was tested by God.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Reaching the mountain top:</u></b><br />
If you are as unathletic as I am, you know it's probably not the smartest thing to go to a mountain and try to run up the whole thing. You must workout, train, and sculpt your muscles in order to accomplish that task. In order to get in shape to be able to run up the mountain, you must sacrifice your time to workout, eat better, and maybe do some things that you don't want to do because you rather just watch another episode of Grey's Anatomy. What's comfortable and what's uncomfortable? <br />
<br />
If you are in that constant state of a spiritual valley and have been trying to climb up and see that mountain top, maybe something is holding you back from that. Maybe God has called you to sacrifice something to him in order to reach that place. Being the stubborn Americans that we are, we don't like doing things that are uncomfortable so we have doubt, even though we know what the Lord is telling us to get rid of or stop doing. My only advice to you is to stop doubting and become more like Abraham.<br />
<br />

<br />
I haven't really done a personal update in awhile so I thought I might fill ya in on what's been happening in my life. <br />
<br />
<img height="476" src="https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/225834_10151472852688176_2045357391_n.jpg" width="640" /><br />
<br />
I'm currently taking two summer classes - managing organizations and consumer behavior. Both are really interesting classes, but I absolutely love my management class. This is my first real business management course, and I know now that I chose the right major. We are currently learning the communication dynamic between a manager and an employee and for whatever reason I just think that is the neatest thing to have people who look up to you for guidance and assurance in the work place. Maybe I'm weird to like that so much haha<br />
<br />
Even though I'm taking two summer classes, that doesn't mean I'm still not enjoying my summer! Every Monday, you can find me out on Lake Allatoona where I attend Wakeboard Church! WBC is just a bunch of college/post-college aged kids hanging out, wakeboarding, and loving the Lord. It's pretty awesome if you ask me!<br />
<br />
<img height="478" src="https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/1014255_10200738744964668_629084101_n.jpg" width="640" /><br />
<br />
What a sunset!!!! I still can't get over this sometimes.<br />
<br />
Last weekend, one of my sorority sister's got married. What a beautiful site it is to see two people that love each other unconditionally! The sister's got together to sing Kappa Delta's Song of Dreams to her. Traditions are cool.<br />
<br />
<img height="640" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/1005401_617734174905931_1588481255_n.jpg" width="480" /><br />
<br />
Now here's the big news! I'm moving into a new house in Kennesaw TODAY! WHAT!!!!<br />
<br />
I'm really excited, and the house could not be more cuter. Seriously.<br />
<br />
<img src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/1013429_10200741881203072_1619649734_n.jpg" /><br />
<br />
What the heck!! The Lord blesses us with things we really want when we are ready. I know I've been blessed more than I ever thought. This house is perfect.<br />
<br />
There will be a total of 5 girls living in the house, which includes my sister and I. My sister is officially a KSU Owl! HOOTY HOOT!<br />
<br />
<img height="640" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/992891_10151720459376499_1510918317_n.jpg" width="480" />'<br />
<br />
All the roomies together!<br />
<br />
Now here is a little blast from the past - I was cleaning out my room and packing my stuff a couple of days ago when I came across this picture. So many memories wrapped up in this single image. I was such a little baby!<br />
<br />
<img src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/1005048_10200780061077545_1123914266_n.jpg" /><br />
<br />
Hope everyone is having a great week! If you haven't read my last blog post titled 'Fruits of the Spirit: Love', you might wanna check that out! The Lord has been teaching me the ways of His spirit, so join along in my journey!<br />
<br />
Stay Revived people!<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ybE3lFgTaJA/Ub8yK03PGiI/AAAAAAAABA4/OGhq7RD3x88/s1600/new+folder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ybE3lFgTaJA/Ub8yK03PGiI/AAAAAAAABA4/OGhq7RD3x88/s640/new+folder.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Christianity is simple. Love other people as Christ has loved us. If we are living in such a way where Christ's love is not shown through our daily actions, we need to check ourselves. What our our motives behind the things we do - to glorify ourselves, to bring recognition to ourselves, or to brag about the good deeds we have done for others? That is not love. Acts out of a place of love are selfless acts. Through that type of love, others will see the Holy Spirit living within us.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul teaches us that when we are patient, we are living in love. When we are kind, we are living in love. When we do not envy or boast, when we are not arrogant, and when we are not irritable, we are living in love. And when you live in love, you begin living the life of Heaven on earth, and the very glory of God is manifested within you and your actions. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If we want to see the full glory of God come to earth, we must learn to love.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Paul says himself "that the greatest of these are love". Love covers a multitude of sins. By our love, people will see the kingdom of Heaven on earth.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Who are we to judge other people for what they have done when we have done just the same sins? Judgement is not up to us. The Lord calls us to love others, no matter what the nitty-gritty might be. Through the power of love and community, the enemy will be conquered.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1SP_OvBjTSU/Ub82RNy64bI/AAAAAAAABBI/SU6ntStAxY0/s1600/love.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="195" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1SP_OvBjTSU/Ub82RNy64bI/AAAAAAAABBI/SU6ntStAxY0/s400/love.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The world is crying out for love. Everyday we hear songs about worldly love, we see pictures of worldly love, and we watch movies about how 'love is supposed to be'. But PEOPLE! When someone experiences the true, compassionate love of Jesus for the first time, they are blown away by how selfless, how forgiving, and how humble it really is. The love I talk about is not love of this world, but supernatural love.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The church I attend has started a series called 'Marks of a Disciple', which I don't think is a coincidence at all. The Lord is teaching me about His Spirit, and also about how I should be behaving as a disciple for Him. They recently did a sermon about a disciple being a lover. Chris makes some really good points so it is worth listening to if you have some extra time on your hands!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="300" mozallowfullscreen="" src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/67585179?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0&color=ffc40d" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="400"></iframe><br />
<br />
So are we loving others with the supernatural love that the Holy Spirit fills us with?<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Pinterest is a wonderful place full of DIY ideas and outfits you wish you could afford. The other day I was on Pinterest, and I came across the usual DIY laundry detergent pin. I've seen this pin before, just never clicked it before. However, being a broke college student, I decided to take a look. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Did you know that DIY Laundry Detergent contains shredded bar soap, including Ivory and other commercial soaps? Of course there are other ingredients like Borax, but lets focus on the fact that you can use commercially made bar soap in your laundry detergent. <i>DETERGENT PEOPLE! </i>Do you see where I'm going with this?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
That's when the light bulb went off in my head. People in general wash themselves with Ivory, Dove, and other commercially produced soaps which is ultimately a bunch of synthetic detergents smashed together to make a bar of soap. These same detergents can be ground up and used as your<i> LAUNDRY DETERGENT.</i> How do you feel about using laundry detergent on your skin?? Ouch!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you stumbled upon my blog and have yet to use a bar of natural soap, I encourage you to go grab a bar at <a href="http://www.reviveyourbath.com/" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: #3d85c6;">www.reviveyourbath.com</span></b></a> because we make our soaps with all plant-based oils and scent everything with natural essential oils. We do not make our soap out of synthetic detergents, harsh chemicals, or fragrance oils that can actually cause skin irritation. We only produce 100% natural soap bars that make your skin happy and healthy. Revive that skin today!! (And think twice about using a bar of Ivory again...just put it in your laundry detergent!)</div>

<img height="200" src="http://b.vimeocdn.com/ps/472/019/4720193_300.jpg" width="200" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
"We exist to activate local leaders by crafting experiences that cultivate community. We believe the best place to make an impact is exactly where we are, in a community full of leaders who desperately need to connect with those who understand their daily struggles, passions, and how to reach their goals." www.hiveatl.com</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
HiveATL is a non-profit organization started by a group of guys in Kennesaw, GA. There goal is to walk alongside people, providing an outlet for No Lonely Leaders. Every fall and spring, they host a networking party called The Gathering. Last week, I attended Hive's second ever gathering. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YmPHDP834xE/UZuG6CFr9OI/AAAAAAAAA_k/_f3KuuO3FXY/s1600/hive.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YmPHDP834xE/UZuG6CFr9OI/AAAAAAAAA_k/_f3KuuO3FXY/s400/hive.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I didn't know what to expect at The Gathering. In fact, I don't know if I even expected much of anything. I was quite nervous not really knowing anyone else going....But I went. And I'm sure glad I did.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And that brings me to my next point: passion vomit. Josh Webb from <a href="http://www.rootradius.com/" target="_blank">Root Radius</a> shared what passion vomit is and how to stop passion vomit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Passion vomit is what happens when you have a great idea or passion about something, and you get so excited you just want to tell everyone everything about anything and nothing you say is organized or really makes any sense. Sitting down and getting your thoughts and action plan together is a good place to start your idea. If you passion vomit all over someone, how do you expect that person to go tell someone else about your grand plan? They probably won't be able to. If you share with people an organized idea, they will be able to spread the word about your idea to other people in the community, and you never know if a potential investor or someone with unlimited resources may be listening in.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://hiveatl.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CC_Blog2-1024x512.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://hiveatl.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CC_Blog2-1024x512.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://www.john.do/" target="_blank">John Saddington</a> was the last speaker, and I think he was literally speaking straight to me. John spoke about how as entrepreneurs, time is our greatest asset, so why do we keep wasting it on things like our favorite TV show on Netflix? In order to get the things we need to get done, we must have good time management skills, which most of us are bad at. Since the Lord has been teaching me about self-control, I didn't think it coincidence that John spoke on this topic. The root of having good time management skills is having self-control to get the things done that need to be done when they need to be done! (That's a mouthful!) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
"If God gave you an incredible vision on what to do with your life, why are you wasting time?"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That was John's last line when he spoke, and I could feel the room shift. People left The Gathering feeling empowered and thinking about why are they really wasting time? The Lord gives us passions for a reason...they aren't just things we like. Each person is unique, and I think that if all of us strived after things we were passionate about, the world would be a much different place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Think about that. What is your passion? Are you doing something about that?d</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

So you casually fall back asleep for an extra 30 minutes, only then having to force yourself out of the bed because now you're more tired then when your alarm first went of....yep. I'll be the first to admit that's me. (On a weekly basis now that classes are over!)<br />
<br />
Even though that may happen and no one knows about it, when does it say about my self-control? What does the action of not being able to control my morning habits say about myself?<br />
<br />
For those of you that read my blog, you know that my last post was about how the Lord is teaching me about the fruits of the spirit. First up was self-control. For the past twenty or so days, I've been studying the word to see what it says about developing biblical self-control.<br />

<br />
<br />
<i>A person without self-control is like a city with broken down walls.</i> Proverbs 25:26<br />
<br />
As there are fruits of the spirit, there are also fruits of self-control.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-47JLKfaa2ys/UZWCCaljjdI/AAAAAAAAA-o/qydxuvEi9FE/s1600/selfcontrol.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-47JLKfaa2ys/UZWCCaljjdI/AAAAAAAAA-o/qydxuvEi9FE/s1600/selfcontrol.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
We'd all like to say we are good at each of these things, but are we really?<br />
<br />
When it boils down to it, self-control is doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done. Like getting out of bed and not pressing the snooze button.<br />
<br />
During the time I was studying self-control, I really wasn't getting the sweet fruit I thought I was biting into. Instead, I was forced to take an internal look at pretty much everything I do wrong. FUN. I looked at what I perceived as my self-control and asked the simple question - did the self-control that I thought I had have the fruits in the list above? Do I manage my money well? Ehhh, probably didn't need to buy new shoes last week. Do I stick to a schedule? Spontaneity is not bad, as long as everything that needs to be done is done. And whyyy can I not break the habit of biting my nails?! Is my self-control lacking so much that I can't even put up with the simple urge to bite my nails when I'm nervous? REALLY?! (Reality check.)<br />
<br />
In Hebrews 12, the Lord talks about how he disciplines the ones He loves.. Y'all, why do we always think we need to figure out the root and reason why the Lord is disciplining us? What if the reason isn't because we did or are doing something wrong, but simply to mold us and shape us into a stronger leader for Him?<br />
<br />
As Americans, we tend to take this season of discipline like a time out. And since we live in a self-centered world, we think, 'oh great, time our for ME to think about whats wrong with ME, oh poor pitiful ME.' No! It's about our personalities being molded to be more like him. I tell ya what, I haven't met anyone with as much self-control as Jesus. He resisted all sin. Now that's self-control y'all.<br />
<br />
If you are in a current season of discipline (like me!), don't look at this time as painful. REJOICE PEOPLE! Self-control is a necessary to live out all of the other fruits of the spirit. How do we love without self-control? How we do have peace without self-control? How do we have kindness without self-control? Same for each of the other fruits of the spirit. It just ain't possible!<br />
<br />
Why do we need self-control? The Lord literally calls us to DIE to ourselves for him.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I encourage you to ask yourself that question and let the Lord reveal that to you during the rest of this week.</div>

Since August of 2012, I've been on the constant pursuit of what it means to live and look more like Jesus each day. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Back in February, I drew this picture in my journal one night.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5fugl7ZOmbo/UYbc94pd9gI/AAAAAAAAA9w/p-H3ZGNL5CE/s1600/photo+(9).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5fugl7ZOmbo/UYbc94pd9gI/AAAAAAAAA9w/p-H3ZGNL5CE/s400/photo+(9).JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let me remind you of the fruits of the spirit. They are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, AND <i>self-control</i> (Galatians 5:22-23). You can see that on the tree trunk I wrote 'come and take the fruit you need because you are hungry.' Being the little confident and sassy person that I am, I thought to myself that there was no need for me to draw a self-control branch because I have that part under control.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Haha that's funny.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since then, the Lord has been taking me on quite the journey through the fruits of the spirit and how to develop biblical fruits. Including self-control.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let's use the metaphor that each person is a tree. Each of these trees are planted in good soil, okay soil, or the really bad soil. Now literal trees cannot uproot themselves and replant themselves into better soil, but we can. We have the choice where to be rooted. The fruits we produce depend on what kind of soil we are planted in.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's not everyday you travel out to the desert land and see a huge field of oak trees now do ya? Nope, but you may see a cactus or two. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="285" src="http://images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium-large/desert-cactus-southwestern-adobe-terry-fleckney.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ahhhh the cactus. What a weird/interesting plant. Seriously, look at that thing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A cactus has these abnormally long prickles that are protecting the plant...protecting what's on the inside. It's a defense mechanism pretty much telling every animal in the desert that it better not try to eat it because it will poke you and won't let you into the good stuff, where the water is. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When you take a look at a cactus and an oak tree and compare the two metaphorically to people, you can tell the difference between which plant was in the good soil and which one was in the bad soil. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The oak tree is growing stronger and taller each day with the help of constant rainfall. The leaves are green and happy. A cactus lives in a dry land, where water is rarely present. The cactus defends itself with this monstrous prickles not to let anyone in and not let anything out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's really ironic because here is a picture I drew a couple days later.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-psCfCvJQ9TM/UYbjguoEuTI/AAAAAAAAA-A/Jnb73ICMQSc/s1600/photo+(10).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-psCfCvJQ9TM/UYbjguoEuTI/AAAAAAAAA-A/Jnb73ICMQSc/s400/photo+(10).JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Looks like I was being all cactus-y.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another thing about being a cactus is that cacti grow up in the desert, ALONE. We are not meant to be alone. Fruitful and happy oak trees don't grow up alone and in the desert. Nope. It just doesn't happen.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Galatians 5:24</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Do you live out your life everyday with the passions and desires that the Lord has given you? Because I'm the first one to raise my hand and say no. Everyday I get caught up in the he said/she said of this world. Do you even know the passions and desires that the Lord has given you?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And that's why I want to learn more about each of the fruits of the spirit, what they mean, and how to live them out daily. The first one being self-control. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope you are ready to dig into each of the fruits with me.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This past weekend I participated in the Big Shanty Festival in Kennesaw, GA. I look forward to doing this show each year because it is the one closest to me home, meaning most of my friends and family can come out and see what I've been up to.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the most exciting things at this show was that my new bath soaks and lotions were making their debut, and a good one at that! I had to call my parents to tell them to bring more lotions and soaks because I underestimated how the new products would sell.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If there is one thing I love in life, its words and the true meaning of words.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><b><span style="font-size: large;">Underestimated (Verb): To estimate (something) to be smaller or less important than it actually is; to regard (someone) as less capable than they really are.</span></b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I look back at the past year of my life, I focus in on moments I underestimated not only myself, but things around me. I looked at myself as someone not capable of overcoming things. I looked at myself as someone not capable of doing the hard things. I underestimated what the Lord calls me, as his daughter, and what he calls me to do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I underestimated my ability to fly across the world to Australia, but I did that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I underestimated my ability to snowboard, but I did that, poorly, but still did it :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I underestimated my ability of ever riding a roller coaster, but I did that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I underestimated my ability to forgive people, but I did that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I underestimated that the Lord would provide everything I truly need, but He did that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What I mean when I say 'provided everything I needed', I mean more than just food and a place to lay my head at night. I mean that he gave me a purpose. He gave me people in my life that show me unconditional love. He gave me dreams. He gave me life.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>What have you been underestimating lately?</i></div>

Since I've been back from Australia, my schedule has been NON-STOP! That's why its taken me awhile to sit down and write a blog post. There are 5 weeks left in the semester which means things are fixing to buckle down, professors are about to load on the work, and people are getting ready for summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Saturday morning I caught my flight out to Los Angeles, California at 8:15 in the morning. I was so pumped! This was my first adventure alone. My first time flying for this long. My first time on the west coast.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BsYYTCCauJQ/UVC-DDbuwkI/AAAAAAAAA8k/Lc2P08OTFxg/s1600/IMG_4063.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BsYYTCCauJQ/UVC-DDbuwkI/AAAAAAAAA8k/Lc2P08OTFxg/s640/IMG_4063.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Upon arriving at LAX, I knew my flight to Australia was at 10:50 at night. Faced with a 13 hour layover in the airport, I decided to get out and explore the city. Being as touristy as I could, I Googled "Things to do in LA on your layover" and found an awesome city tour to go on. The tour was 6 hours long and we got to explore everything in LA. A few of the things I got to see were the Hollywood sign, drive down Rodeo Drive, and put my little toes in the Pacific Ocean for the first time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

After the tour, I still had a couple more hours before my flight. Once I boarded the plane, it was very easy to fall right asleep after take-off since our flight was so late at night. The flight to Aussie was 14.5 hours long....talk about back ache! I was so ready to get off that plane once we landed in the land down under. Fortunately, no screaming babies!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My friend Lindsey also got to go to Australia for spring break. We were both there for two weeks - just the right amount of time to really experience the culture and see the sites. Lindsey and I were staying in the Baulkham Hills in Bella Vista, NSW. We were about 45 minutes northwest of the city. I thought that it was really neat not staying right in the city so we could really experience the genuine culture of Australia.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okay now time for the story. One of the first things we did upon arrival and getting settled in was go to the grocery store to get food for the week. Well, one of the top priorities on my list was coffee and coffee creamer. Got the coffee in my basket. Now as for the coffee creamer? Well....I walked down the milk isle in the grocer and there was whole milk, skim milk, custard, and yogurt. No creamer, half-n-half, or anything of the sort. Went back to the coffee isle to see if there was powder coffee creamer. Nope. How was I supposed to survive?! Black coffee I guess. Just my first of many experiences with the different food.</div>

Hey everyone! I posted the other day about how I was Australia bound! Well I'm flying standby, and yesterday I tried to get on the flight without any success. Soooo I flew out this morning of the Atlanta Airport at 8:10am and landed in the Los Angeles International Airport at 10am. The flight to Australia isn't until 10:50pm, so I have a 13 hour layover!!!!! WHAT.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So when I arrived at LAX, I looked online to see what I could do. I decided to go on a LA City tour! The tour lasted 6 hours, and I got to see almost all of the major sites in Los Angeles. We visited Hollywood, Venice Beach, Sunset Boulevard, Beverly Hills, and Rodeo Drive to name a few. It was SO awesome getting to experience the different cultures between the east and west coast. I also got to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time EVER!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I still have 4 hours of layover left before I board the flight to Australia. Here are some pictures from the tour today!</div>

We did see some really awesome and extremely expensive cars on Rodeo Drive - probably owned by some famous people. Our tour guide told us that this one yellow car we passed was worth over $1 million!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you are ever in LA or have a super long layover time like I did, I highly recommend the VIP Tours of California. I went on the city tour of LA with this company, and for everything I got to see, it was an amazing deal. Our tour guide was very informative, and I could definitely tell that he loved this city!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wanna know something cool?! When I fly over to Australia, I'll pass the international date change line, which means I'll leave today, 2/23, but I won't land in Oz until 2/25! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have you been to Australia or are from Australia? I will be staying close to Sydney in New South Wales. What are some touristy things you would recommend I do while I'm there?</div>
