Prices in 2012

Hey guys! I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas!  Did anyone get any cool stuff??

I am ready to get back to work on my new products so they will be ready to be released in 2012.  So many exciting things are happening for Revive!

Change is always good.  Unfortunately, Revive will be having to increase the price of our soaps in 2012.  With the increasing prices of shipping and the rising price of oils, the price increase was a must if I was planning on helping fund my schooling through Revive sales. However, the good news is that none of the other product prices will be changing - just the soaps!   The new pricing will be taking affect Jan. 1, 2012.

That means if you still want to get a bar at only $4, now is the time to buy! Abe's Market is also offering FREE shipping through the end of the year so it's a perfect time to stock up. Check out my Revive page on Abe's here: http://www.abesmarket.com/store/reviveyourbath/products

Santa brought lots a presents!

Meet Tucker!  I was dogsitting him today for my friend, and he was helping me out all day in the soap shack!

New Products for 2012!

Okay everyone, get excited! (PS, I've had so much more time to blog since the semester ended for the holiday!)

Revive will be adding several new products in 2012!  I am so excited to announce them :)

1: Revive will be carrying a vanilla/lavender EO blend soap.  Let me just tell you, I wasn't so sure how I would like vanilla in a soap.  I like more of the clean scents.  However, most of my customers have been asking for a vanilla soap, even my roommate!  So I decided to try out several different blends and I have struck gold.  The recent soap batch I made (and I say this with all the humbleness in the world) is freaking AMAZING!  Oh my goodness, it has to be one of the best smelling soaps out of all 9 of the scents I make! Since vanilla EO reacts with oxygen and turns brown in soap, I did a brown and cream swirl.  The soap looks like a caramel-vanilla swirly thing of goodness!  I am waiting a couple more days to post pictures because the soap will get browner the longer it dries.  Seriously though, you are going to have to try this soap if you are a vanilla lover!  This soap will be called 'Sweetness'

2: Revive will also be carrying a signature loofah soap bar!  The color will be a turquoise color like in Revive's logo with a loofah.  This soap will also be the first round soap!  They will come packaged in cute little kraft boxes. The scent will be a blend of lemon, eucalyptus, and tea tree EO. I was so nervous about using my new round mold, but the soap couldn't have turned out any better!  I better get to soaping so I can make plenty of bars before I add this loofah soap to my website because these babies are going to go fast!!

3: I am thinking about making a soap scented with a lavender and mint EO blend.  Not really sure on this one... may be added later on in 2012!  What do you guys think??

4:  Revive will be carrying TWO new linen sprays!  One will be our floral Euphoria in a spray.  Rose, sandalwood, and jasmine will fill your house with a spray of our new linen spray!  The other new linen spray will be the lavender/vanilla blend!  This one will be great for the little ones trying to fall asleep at night.  I have let my wholesalers know about the new products, and they are SO excited about the new linen sprays!

5: Revive's lotion line will be expanding.  I know I will be adding an unscented shea butter body cream.  My sister Megan is having a baby (actually, she could be having him any day now!) and she wanted me to make an unscented lotion for little Max.  I figured that other moms out there might also want an unscented lotion for their little one.  Sometimes essential oils are not so nice to younger skin.  Unscented lotion will keep you and your baby moisturized.

Alright everyone, what do you think about the new products?!  I am SO excited to post pictures later in the week of the new loofah soap and the new Sweetness soap!  Keep an eye out for my next blog post!

Also, if you are in the Hiram/Dallas, GA area, you can now find Revive products at Judy B. & Company!  They are located at 3606 Atlanta Highway, Dallas, GA 30141.  Stop on in and tell them you are shopping for Revive Bath & Body products!  It's a great way to get a few last-minute stocking stuffers without the worry if the package would arrive in the mail on time or not.

Have a Reviving day!
Merry Christmas & don't forget to remember the reason for the season!

Oh My! Handmade Submission

Oh My! Handmade is having a giveaway on their site for a business makeover!  They are offering logo designs, business consultations, advertising, and much more!  This is my entry for their giveaway:

The moment I opened that soap making kit on Christmas morning, I knew this was going to be more than just a new hobby.  Earlier, my mom had asked me that infamous question, “What would you like for Christmas this year?”  Well, I have been interested in homemade soaps my whole life.  My mom told me about how I would beg for her to buy me a new bar of homemade soap at the outdoor market when I was little.  I had been doing some research and saw an online company offered cold process soap making kits.  Of course! That’s what I wanted this year.

Once I completed the kit and successfully made my first batch of soap, I was hooked.  I went online to research anything and everything about cold process soap making.  I read blogs, joined forums, read books, and even watched how-to videos on YouTube!  With all the knowledge I had gained, I bought my own supplies to make my own recipe.  After a few trial runs, I finally achieved the perfect bar of soap – one that is gentle, moisturizing, and has a good lather.

I really became passionate about handmade soap when I was researching and I found an article about how many synthetics can be found in a regular bar of grocery store soap.  I knew that there had to be something wrong with this picture.  Nowadays people are more aware and concerned with the food they are putting into their bodies and more and more people are switching to organics everyday.  But what about the things we use on our skin?

The skin is the largest human organ as well as the body’s first line of defense against dehydration, temperature, infection, and harmful substances.  Most soaps available in stores are not really soap, but detergents.  Detergents tend to leave your skin feeling dry, itchy, and tight.   One of the biggest differences between commercial soap and handmade soap is glycerin.  Glycerin is a clear liquid that absorbs water from the air and is a key factor in keeping your skin soft and healthy.  Because it is a high quality by-product in the soap making process, many commercial soap manufacturers often extract the glycerin and sell it to be used in other products.  Handmade soap contains all of the natural glycerin as well as gives your skin the care it deserves by gently cleansing and locking in moisture.

After I found out all of this information, I wanted to share the goodness of handmade soap.  I started giving my soap to different people, and one day my mom said, “I bet you could sell this stuff.”  Being the entrepreneur that I am, (I started my own custom friendship bracelet mini business in 5th grade!) I jumped at the idea and started researching everything I could about getting into the soap making business.  Then I remembered the soap people from the local markets!  After purchasing some new tables and items for my display and my Grandmother giving me an outdoor tent, I successfully sold soap at my first market.  I continued selling at markets to earn money.  All of the money made selling at markets at first was put back into the company to buy more supplies and cover the start-up costs.  After a few markets, I was making actual money.  That’s when I decided this was more than just a hobby; this could help me pay for college in an economy my parents just could not support me in.

I started my sophomore year in college at Kennesaw State University in the fall of 2011.  My plan is to graduate with a degree in Business Management with a emphasis in entrepreneurship.  I have started taking my business courses this year, and I already know I am going to love going to the business school.  Starting Revive really helped me decide what I wanted to major in.  All of the profits that Revive makes is either being put back into the company or helping me get through college.  Hopefully after I graduate, I will be able to take Revive to the next level and really become my own boss.

I think by winning the business makeover at Oh My! Handmade would really give my business the ‘launch’ it needs to take off and truly be successful.  There are many questions that I do not have answers to since I am so young.  I would love to go to a trade show in 2012 and pick up some wholesale accounts and really focus on the wholesale side of my business in 2012.  I think that winning this giveaway would help me figure out my wholesale information and help my business become truly successful.

A HUGE thank you to Oh My! Handmade for giving small business owners this opportunity!

Thanksgiving Weekend Sale

I just wanna say that our customers ROCK!  I held a Thanksgiving Weekend sale where some items were up to 40% off!  Thanks to our awesome customers, Revive had record breaking sales.  I took a few pictures of the madness/awesomeness of this sale!

The first night of sales..  There were SO many packages!  Imagine walking into the post office with all of these... Haha then I found out you can request pickup from USPS so I did that for the next couple of days.

It was a very long night of packaging orders!

The next day, my roommate Jenna came over to help me with more orders.  I was worried I wouldn't get them all done before finals so I was super excited when she said she wanted to help me.  Thanks Jenna!
(PS - I have somehow acquired another room in my gracious parent's house to use as my office/packaging/storage room for my business.  I'll have to post pictures of it when I finally finish moving everything in there and organizing it!  It's a wreck right now due to finals and me not being able to be there to clean it! PPS - if my mom is reading this, sorry about the mess!)

More orders the next day.

All packaged up and ready for the mail!

Revive had a little over 75 sales which brought in over $1000 worth of revenue.  Talk about a blessing to help pay for my schooling next semester and some much needed soap equipment!!  Due to so many orders, I basically sold out of EVERYTHING (which is awesome!)!! Good thing I didn't have a holiday show to do this year... I would not have had any products to bring!  However, now I know how much soap I need to have on hand before next year's Thanksgiving Weekend Sale... A lot more than I did this year - haha!!

Anywhooo, I have made more of my little soapies so now everything is back in stock except for the Cara Facial Bar so shop away!  There are only a couple more days to order before it's too late for Christmas shipping.  Soap is a great stocking stuffer!

Also, if you have ever used Abe's Market before, then you know about all of the eco-friendly products they offer on their website.  Did you know you can also purchase Revive products from Abe's?  Right now our Euphoria Soap and our Lavender Linen Spray are ON SALE at Abe's Market!  Abe's is also offering FREE SHIPPING to all customers!  Check out our products on Abe's Market at http://www.abesmarket.com/store/reviveyourbath/products

Skinny Dip

Hey ya'll!  Wow, it's been super busy the last week!  We had record sales during our Thanksgiving Weekend sale!!  Due to that, some products on our website are back ordered.  They will be back in stock within the next week!

Due to a recent change in our colorant supplier, some of the soap's colors will be changing.  One of these is Skinny Dip.  Although we kept with the white, blue, and yellow colors, they are still different than the original.  The essential oil scent blend is still the same!  Check out these pictures for what Skinny Dip will now look like!

Only two school days and five finals stand between me and Christmas break.  This semester has been a tough one (hence the reason behind not having time to blog AT ALL).  I'm just excited this one will be over, and I'll be getting more into my business courses instead of things like history and science!

How was everyone's Thanksgiving?  Let me know what you think about the new Skinny Dip!

Have a Reviving day,
Caitlin
