Cheap & Chic Display Idea

Hey everyone!  Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

If there are any crafters out there looking for a new way to spruce up your current display, here is a little tutorial on how to add a cheap but shabby chic display item in just six easy steps!

I have recently fallen in love with letters.  Anytime I see the letter "R", I go crazy and I want to somehow incorporate it into my display.  However, being a new company, I gotta think of new ways to save money. Sso I decided I would make my own cute little "R" for my display.

Step 1:  Purchase a paper mache letter from your local craft shop.  I got mine from Hobby Lobby, and it was only $2.99!

Step 2:  Gather materials.  For this, all you need is old newspaper, flour, and water!  Make sure to also use a table cloth.

Step 3:  Mix the "glue".  Just use one cup of water and one cup of flour.  Mix it together in a bowl!  You may need more or less depending on the size of your letter.  I used a cup for each and there was still a bunch of "glue" left over.

Step 4:  Tear out strips of the newspaper, avoiding all the pictures.  You need strips with just the words.

Step 5:  Dip your strips in the "glue".  Get them all sopping wet, then just place them randomly on your letter!  The more random, the better.
Wa-lah!

Step 6: Set your letter in a dry place where no one will bother it.  I let mine sit outside.  Let it sit until the whole thing is dry.  Once dry, you should have a beautiful chic letter to include anywhere in your craft show display!  You can add more newspaper strips if there are any awkward spots once it dries.  Just whip up some more "glue" and strips and let it dry.

This is also a great project if you have little kids.  Don't leave them out of the fun!  Let them pick out the letter of their first name or any other object.  After complete, let them finger paint it!  Use colors that match their room and use it to decorate the room!

The doors are opening!

A common saying is, "When one door closes, another one opens."  The doors are definitely opening for Revive Bath and Body!

I currently only supply wholesale soaps to this one shop in South Carolina called Low Country Produce.  It's a great shop where you can buy handmade tomato sauces, jellies, pickles, and much more!  Well recently, their Sweet Potato Butter was featured in Oprah Magazine in Oprah's Favorite Things.  This caused a major rush of people into their store.  Dwight even told me he sold out of the stuff, and he was selling it just made, still in the jar, without even having a real label on it!  That's how busy they got the day after the O Mag came out.

If you would like to read an article about Low Country Produce, please follow this link:

While buying some Sweet Potato Butter, this one lady also picked up four bars of my soap.  She came back into the store a few days later and told Dwight, the owner, that he would like my information so she can contact me about carrying my soaps in her store!!!!!!

I have yet to talk to this lady about doing wholesale, but I'm just excited in the fact that someone else is actually interested in carrying my line of homemade soaps!  Ahhhhhhh I'm getting goosebumps!  the lady works at the Hilton Head Information Center, which is like the place you go to get info about the island and travel stuff.  So all of you South Carolinians and vacationers, get ready to see Revive Bath and Body in the information center!

However, if it doesn't work out, I'm still so excited that someone actually wants to carry my product.  It is such an inspiration to get through college, get that degree in entrepreneurship, and get my business going.

Ahhhh!  Okay, well besides the fact I just got some of the most encouraging news ever, I also did a home show this past weekend!  This lady in Ben's neighborhood hosts a home show in her basement every November.  My mom has been selling her florals there for three years now, and with the start of my new business, I was invited to participate as well!  The show went really great - it was free so I made lots of profit, got my name even farther out there, and got a few Christmas orders!

Here are some pics from the show.  I just had a small one table sorta deal.

Also, Revive is having a BOGO sale with reduced shipping just in time for the holidays!
Buy 5 bars of soap, get the 6th one free.  $20 with reduced shipping at just $5.95.  Handmade soap is a great gift for anyone, including your mother-in-law, sister, coworker, or boss.  With this, you can get 6 gifts for just $25.95!

It's November?!

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!  Ben and I dressed up as Mario and Princess Peach.

Winter:  a hot cup of coffee, sweatshirts and pajama pants, fires, and the best thing of all, long, hot baths.  And a hot bath means using Revive's True Lavender Milk Bath Powder.  Lavender is a serious scent with some serious healing properties.  Not only does it provide you with a calming sensation, it also has restoring and soothing properties.  And let me tell ya, it really works!

Milk baths have been used for centuries by women hoping to improve the look and feel of their skin. Part of the reason milk works wonders for skin is because it contains different kinds of acids. The alpha lactic acid contained in milk acts as a gentle cleanser for the skin. Another naturally occurring acid in milk is a beta hydroxy acid which acts as an excellent skin exfoliant. Exfoliation is extremely important when it comes to skin care. Removing the old skin cells makes way for the newer, more vibrant skin underneath to shine through.

So take a break from all of that holiday stress and take a bath!

As for college, I officially am done with one of the college classes.  I ended up getting a 93 in my Anthropology class.  It was only a two hour credit class, which means it ends earlier than the average three hours class.  So waaahooooo!

KSU offers many different kinds of workout classes in the Wellness Center.  One of my friends and I have been going to this class called PIYO.  It's supposed to be a combination of Pilates and Yoga.  Talk about a good workout!

My political science class is about to start.  I'm sure we will have tons to talk about since we have not had class since the election!
